Fear: A Sharp Fiery Dart

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  … taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.” -Eph 6:11-13, 16 (NKJV)

Fear is real! People fear many things nowadays and this fear can be overwhelming. Fear comes in many forms: emotional based on something that is dangerous or it can be spiritual based on something not seen but very real. This fear can grip your heart and make you feel powerless and not in control. It can be soul-wrenching. Fear can be and is stifling and often results in [prescription] drugs to calm the individual. Some turn to alcohol to break free of reality, temporary that is. Fear can paralyze you and keep you from claiming power and authority in Jesus Christ.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” – 2 Tim 1:7 (NKJV)

The enemy of our soul – Satan – is cunning, crafty and covert is his attacks on us. He will use every weapon in his arsenal to try and get us away from Christ thereby defeating us or even attempting to destroy us. We as Christians must be aware of his devices (2 Cor 10:5) so as to combat them using the full armor of God (Eph 6). We must be aware that this enemy targets us with his fiery darts of fear and despair which leads to a debilitating fear which cripples us in our witness for Christ. Fear gives way to worry, unbelief and lack of trust in Almighty God. Fear can result in anxiety attacks which in some cases result in professional help. This kind of fear is not of God. We must remember that fear is the opposite of faith and we must do everything to oppose these attacks of fear. Understanding this sharp fiery dart of the Devil and how he uses it will help advance and increase our faith and trust in Christ. Reading God’s word daily will help you immensely. And being constant in prayer will transform your life into that of a prayer warrior. And this makes the Devil shutter, cower and flee especially when you mention the name of Jesus Christ.

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” – Rom 10:17 (NKJV)

Much fear will come in the last days – Luke 21:26. We as Christians must know how to take stand against these weapons of fear and use combat faith to overcome them. We must trust in Christ to see us through; not a little trust, not a little faith, but complete trust and faith that the Lord is with us and will protect and comfort our soul. Even when things around us are crashing and the world seems to be falling apart, we must raise our shield of faith and quench (extinguish) the fiery darts slung from the Devil’s camp. We must use the Word of God as our sword and fight all attacks of fear and unbelief and hopelessness with scripture – James 4:7. Please don’t be Bible illiterate for many will fall away in the days ahead overcome with fear and dread. Know God’s word, trust God and know the truth found in the pages of scripture. Do not be afraid, instead be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You” -Psa 56:3 (NKJV)

Remember, that every stronghold set up against us through fear, worry, unbelief must be destroyed and torn down. And this is accomplished through heavy-duty combat faith and combat trust in God Almighty. Friends, this is serious and warrants immediate attention. We cannot dismiss what is happening today to many people – Christians and non-Christians.  Satan will use fear in the days ahead to try and make us ineffective and powerless. But we must be strong and proclaim our faith in the Lord and trust that He will never abandon those that love and serve Him diligently. Where are you at today?

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” -Isa 41:10 (NKJV)
