Has America Crossed God’s “Red Lines”?
“And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man…” -Gen 6:3a (KJV)
America used to be a God-fearing nation. We used to revere and honor the name of the Lord God Almighty and His name was powerful and held great significance for the majority of Americans. As the invasion of Normandy (D-Day) began on June 6, 1944, a not so overly pious President Roosevelt prayed to Almighty God for the protection and safety of the men who fight for our freedom. This could have been the deciding factor in our success in the invasion and defeat of our enemies.
Today, however, something drastically different is occurring in this once great and Godly land. We are undergoing a moral and spiritual breakdown of unimaginable proportions. Let me give you a five examples that have pushed America perhaps beyond the “Red Lines” that God has established for mankind through His mighty written word:
- The removal of prayer to Almighty God in our nation’s public schools by the Supreme Court on June 25, 1962
- The removal of Bible reading in our nation’s public schools by the Supreme Court in 1963
- The decision by the Supreme Court in the Roe vs. Wade case to affirm the legality of a women’s right to abortion on Jan 22, 1973
- The striking down of the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) by the Supreme Court on June 26, 2013
- The ruling by the Supreme Court that declares Same-Sex marriage legal in all 50 states on June 26, 2015
These are the most outstanding and significant repudiations of God’s laws to mankind in the history of the world. We as the [once] most blessed, the most prosperous and the most militarily superior power that this world has ever seen has stepped on the neck of Almighty God and told Him that we don’t need His laws, His wisdom and His word in our nation anymore. This is appalling and horrendous to say the least.
So what does all this mean to us now in 2018?
It means America is in big trouble!
IMO, we have crossed His boundaries, we have dissed His word, and we have brazenly exceeded His established Red Lines given to us in His Holy Writ (rules, laws, precepts). We have done these things without shame and the nakedness now of our national sin shines like the sun! Examine what it says in Ezekiel – what God says – to this type of nation – Eze 14:13. When a nation such as America that was really established as a safe haven or refuge for the Jews when they escaped Europe, to flagrantly spit in the face of God through it’s acceptance of immoral practices and steeped in the sin or idolatry and the worship of “other” Gods. When a nation – America – does these things, what do you think they deserve? Grace, mercy or judgment?
Consider what God Almighty told Jeremiah in Jer 7:16; 11:14; and 14:11… Ancient Judah was entrenched in these types of sins not even to the point we are today; examine what the Lord told Jeremiah. I will include one verse here:
““As for you, do not pray for this people, or lift up a cry or prayer for them, and do not intercede with me, for I will not hear you.” -Jer 7:16 (ESV)
Can you get your mind around what He told Jeremiah? It’s very difficult but at the same time it was God delivering His decree. This is said again in Jer 11:14 and 14:11. Then the clincher in Jer 15:1-2. This is what can happen to a nation, such as America now, that has been so blessed by the hand of God. For it is written that those that are given much, much is required – Luke 12:48. From America much will be required. In fact, the writing may be on the wall for this nation now weighed on the scales and found wanting in the eyes of God (Dan 5:27).
Folks, these words should impact us to our core. They should rock today’s Christian church and cause the pastors and elders to tremble in their shoes and rethink their positions on Biblical values and just who God is.
IMO, America has reached the point of no return. I say this because America shows no signs of sincere repentance as was the case when Jonah preached the destruction to the people and national leadership in Nineveh. They amended their ways from the top down and God relented on His decreed judgment of their land. Will America follow suite?
Bottom-line: God seeks obedience and He seeks repentance. And America seems far away from both. Yes, we should pray for the leaders and nation but with all this being said and the reading of scripture, I pray that God’s will be done. I pray for people that they would come to know the Lord as their Savior. Yes, even our President.
The Lord knows the mind of man and He knows their heart. Right now, the heart, mind and soul of America is hard as iron, solid as brass and callous as Pharaohs’ heart in his determination to stop the Israelites from leaving Egypt in ancient times. This does not bode well for this nation today. We are in trouble for there are few that really seek the Lord today. In fact, Hosea hits the nail on the head in Hos 4:1-6. Take a moment to read these insightful right-now verses for America.
Friends, the question today is, has God’s patience run out and now are to prepare for His judgment/s? In light of what I’ve written today, please consider it carefully. Weigh your own heart. America may be gone but you, me our friends and family still need Jesus Christ and now more than ever. So the eternal question for you right now is – “Are you saved?” Consider this as the most important question you will ever face and your next course of action equally important. To be saved requires that you confess your sin, profess that Almighty God raised His only Son Jesus Christ from the dead and all this you must believe in your heart. Then you must repent turn your live over to the Lord in living in obedience to His word and in absolute holiness in His presence. Amen.
