Bible Prophecy Commentary: God Governs Nature –
“The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.” -Nahum 1:3 (KJV)
“When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.” -Prov 1:27 (KJV)
“The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.” -Psa 77:18 (KJV)
These are just a few verses in the Bible that let us know the Lord is in nature and controls everything in His timing and for His purposes. What happens in the course of nature whether good or bad is controlled solely by our God. Random events do not take place for He has a purpose for all good things and calamities that nature brings.
In these cases it may be that He is telling humanity to get right with Him – know Him and understand Him, confess your sins to Him alone and repent as often as needed. These are undeniable truths and that cannot be refuted. If you read His word for understanding and knowledge you will find out that the Lord God Almighty if full of grace and mercy with long-suffering love but He also has a justice side that I believe we are seeing now.
Destructive and abnormal weather may be an indication that He is running out of patience with this rebellious and Godless world (America is very much included in this). He has a point in that His grace can be replaced with justice and judgment. Friends, it’s time to know these things and know the God we serve.
From earthquakes to severe weather – tornadoes, storms, hurricanes, etc – He governs it all for His purposes. We had better pay attention to these things and more importantly read His word and learn more about Him. Those who call upon the Lord and name the name of the Lord should without question seek His face and get to know Him personally.
