There is Power in the Name of Jesus! Claim it and Walk in It Today

Speak Power in Your Faith by the Name of the Lord

“These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” -Mark 16:17-18 (KJV)

If you are a Christian and tuned-in to world events and versed in the Bible you should readily agree that we are living in very troubled and precarious times. We are living in the days preceding the Lord’s coming. I have called it this and many others do as well but I would like to further describe these times as we are living in the “last hour” – 1 John 2:18. Therefore, now more than any time before in human history must we be prepared in our hearts, our minds and souls for what’s coming. We must, without negotiation or discussion, know our Bibles and know the Lord God Almighty. Only in this will we prevail in the yet perilous times ahead.

Speaking of this then, we must be very cognizant of the power we as born-again, Bible toting, God-aware Christians have in the Lord Jesus Christ. We must realize that this power is available 24×7 to those that proclaim the name of the Lord. Friends, there is tremendous power given to us by Jesus our Lord. In just His name we can take authority over serpents and scorpions and over ALL the power of the Devil – Luke 10:19. We can call on the name of the Lord and be saved – Acts 4:12. Now these are not just some nice and pretty verses contained in the Bible, convenient to use in sermons and blogs but they are our actual defense against the enemy of our soul. We must appropriate scripture in our daily lives and think, eat and sleep it like never before. His name is power and He has given us the privilege to use it. Remember, even the demons tremble in the name of Jesus!

“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble” – James 2:19 (KJV)

Today, Christians are seldom taught the power of the name of Jesus Christ. Many have no idea of (1) the spiritual warfare that’s ensuing around them and (2) the weapons of spiritual warfare we have in the name of the Lord. Just in speaking His name in any particular situation you are in can release His heavenly power and cause supernatural things to occur. I have read about thieves being stopped when the victim would call out the name of Jesus. Others, I’ve heard about stopped guns from firing. Still others from a South African pastor that was fired upon in his car by several assailants and no bullets touched him. Why? He called out to Jesus in faith! We must learn how to speak in faith and call those things that are not as though they were – Rom 4:17. Read (some with video) of actual events here, here, here.

It’s by Peter’s faith that he healed a lame man in Acts 3:16 and he attributed the healing through his faith in Christ’s name. Did you hear that? We must have faith! And that faith has to be grounded and founded in Christ. Only then can we be used to walk and talk by faith and not by our sight – 2 Cor 5:7. It’s time for Christians to know that they must exercise their faith in calling out to the Lord and in proclaiming His name in our lives, circumstances and events. Awesome things can take place if more Christians learn to do this. Lives can be saved, souls can be won, thieves and robbers can be stopped, crimes can be curtailed and people can be healed and all in the name of Jesus! We must learn how to pray in everything we do.

When was the last time you prayed over a meal in thanksgiving? When was the last time you prayed before going to work, to keep you safe? How about praying the name of the Lord over your family for daily safety? Do you pray before entering a building – stores, churches, restaurants, etc? Praying in faith in the name of Jesus is pure power and we must do it! Praying over every place we go, enter, travel, etc must be a Christian’s number one thought especially these days. But you must pray sincerely and not doubt.

Much fear is in this world now and more is coming and therefore we as real Christians must be walking in faith and in the power of the Lord daily. This is not optional. It is our priority. Please take time today to consider where your faith is and in what. Spend some time praying alone to the Lord asking for wisdom and how and what you should pray about. Take 5 min, at a minimum, to read your Bible with no distractions. That 5 min will turn into hours, let me assure you. Once you begin to know the Lord – I mean really get to know Him, you will want to spend most of your time in prayer and communion with Him. And it doesn’t mean that you go off and live as a hermit for you can pray at any time no matter where you are or what you are doing. This is totally awesome!

So all this being said – are you walking and talking in the name and power of the Lord?

“The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe” -Prov 18:10 (KJV)
