Bible Prophecy Commentary: Is Almighty God Sending Us Warnings Via the Weather?
We learn from the Old Testament just who Almighty God is. That is if we study it! (Note: Churches that discount or do not preach from the OT are ones to flee from.) In our world today God does not speak directly through our TV's or 'smart' cell phones. He doesn't appear on our computers through various Internet videos or portals. But He does speak to us through His word – if we read it. And when we read and study Scripture we get to know God and it helps us understand some aspects of who He is and how He works – His glory, His majesty, His strength and power. God is God, He is the Almighty Self-Existent One and does His good pleasure – Isa 46:10. And one thing for certain to learn about Him is that He controls everything including every whirlwind, lightning bolt, earthquake, rain storm, tornado, volcano … yes, everything in nature – Job 37:9-16.
Yet many scoff at this. Folks, there is something very strange happening across this world. Flooding, rain, mudslides, hurricanes, tornados, sinkholes, snow, frost, extreme weather of all types. Many will say this is just climate change or the effects of El Nino. I say this is Almighty God's hand trying to warn the world that He is returning soon and we had better get right with Him.
In Amos 3:6-7 (NKJV), He says:
"If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid? If there is calamity in a city, will not the Lord have done it?
Surely the Lord does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets."
In Amos 3:10-11 (KJV), He says why disasters fall
For they know not to do right, saith the Lord, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.
Therefore thus saith the Lord God; An adversary there shall be even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled."
And in Amos 4:6-12, He indicates the kind of weather events that He brings in order to get people to return to Him. Friends, the truth of the matter is that people are not returning to Him. Disasters and calamities in the weather are occurring all over the world and people are not seeking the Lord. In America, we have been hit with devastating droughts, fires and now floods in California – our main food producing state. Even in the Midwest and the east, rain and flooding is historic. In the UK – unprecedented. Prices have risen but is anyone paying attention to why this is happening? Calif, NY and Chicago are three of our biggest cities that have turned their backs on God. Sin is rising and sincere life-changing repentance is far from people's minds.
The world is in trouble – calamities are everywhere and growing in intensity. I firmly, believe the Lord's return is very near. Are you ready? Have you been watching for the signs He clearly has warned us about in His word – the Bible. Do you even read it?
Pay attention to extreme weather especially in the day in which we live. It's getting worse!
Do you pray? Are you seeking the Lord in your life? Have you confessed your sins to Him (and not to a infallible man)? The time is now; He has given us much time to get our lives right before Him. The road ahead will get increasingly rough and the faith of many will be tested to the max and unfortunately, because many don't know the Lord, many will fall away from the faith – Matt 24:10; 2 Th 2:3; 1 Tim 4:1.
Are you ready? Have you prepared in your heart, mind and soul? Have you returned to Him?
