Bible Prophecy Commentary – Food Scarcity:
Now perhaps you are asking how could I even say that God is sending us 'warnings' through our food supply problems? By simply saying this – Almighty God has been speaking to mankind for thousands of years through His word – the Holy Bible. We don't hear Him on the radio or TV or in movies or as a visiting preacher in a pulpit. But we do hear Him loud and clear through His written word: that is, for those who diligently read it!
Once you take a journey through the Old Testament and read how He warned ancient Israel and surrounding nations, you will discover God in a more personal and revealing way. Though His thoughts and ways are higher than our thoughts and ways (Isa 55:9), we are able to know Him and how He has and will deal with mankind. If you just 'dabble' in His word – read it occasionally, you will never discover who God is and how He operates. Going to church once or twice a week won't get it either. You have got to immerse yourself reading His Holy Writ and praying seeking His face … daily.
Then you will begin to know Him and realize He is our Almighty, Majestic, Self-Existent Awesome Heavenly Creator. Powerful, yet loving and kind, faithful yet just. And folks, I believe we are seeing some of His urging to us to return to Him. Consider the 'five returns' – instances that He used in Amos 4 to get the peoples attention to return to Him.
- Cleanness of teeth – little to eat (Amos 4:6)
- Drought – rain in one city and not another (Amos 4:7-8)
- Blight and mildew – crop damage (Amos 4:9)
- Plaques like those of Egypt and war and stink (Amos 4:10)
- Overthrew some like Sodom and Gomorrah yet snatched from the fire (Amos 4:11)
Folks, these things are happening in America and well as the rest of the world. Take for example California – the drought there is even now more horrific (re: here). Check out these pics and info of Lake Mead, Nv water levels (re: here and here and here). I think as the days go by and Calif (Western US) drought gets even worse Americans will see prices go up and a real scarcity of food in the grocery stores. We are seeing the price soaring in meat now, what will happen later this year given the current pace? Wake up everyone, I firmly believe the Lord is warning us and strongly urging us to return to Him before it's too late. Are you saved right now today? If not, read Rom 10:9-11 to confess your sin and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord, Savior and Redeemer. He paid the ultimate penalty on the cross of Calvary, He gave His all so we could have forgiveness of our sins and eternal life with Him. But … we must act on this – believe, confess and repent; then live out our days as a real true Christian.

Is God Sending Us Warnings to Return to Him!
"And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
7- And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.
8- So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
9- I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
10- I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
